In July 2017 Jhatkaa campaigners met with Environment Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan to deliver petition signatures and comments. 9,000 passionate Indians have taken action for cleaner, safer power plants across our country. Making sure that thermal power plants are upgraded to the best available technology will not only reduce air pollution (by a LOT), but also help us conserve our precious water resources. It’s common sense and, according to Environment Ministry rules, needs to happen by the end of this year. But there are forces out there trying to delay this important timeline, meaning that 300+ power plants could continue to pollute the air at extreme levels for another 2-5 years. India can’t afford that.
